Main focus of Sophia's role and her area of expertise

The Community Engagement Lead is the Jersey OIC’s first point of contact for all matters relating to community engagement. This role sees Sophia liaising with a range of formal and informal groups in support of our office’s vision to create a community in Jersey whereby ‘Privacy is Instinctive’.

Day to day responsibilities

As a key member of the Communications Team, Sophia supports the office with ensuring Islanders are familiar with their personal information rights when it comes to data protection and privacy and how they can exercise them were necessary.

Sophia's role also involves raising awareness among Island organisations such as businesses, clubs, charities and associations, about their data protection obligations. Sophia also develops community outreach campaigns and monitors data protection trends in order to provide guidance and assistance about topical data protection themes.

Career experience

Sophia’s career has focused on delivering public awareness information to islanders in a positive, engaging and concise manner. With almost two decades of presenting on television and a decade in finance presenting to financial advisors, Sophia is extremely accomplished in the fields of communication and engagement.

Speaking engagements

As well as her extensive presenting experience in local television, Sophia has previously hosted award ceremonies and numerous local events such as the Jersey Boat Show, as well as the hosting of sustainability summits.
